Hi, I’m Alex Amos, and welcome to SOMA Autos.

I established SOMA Autos in 2020 after a brief spell working for Ford, before covid hit. As I was “last in”, inevitably I was “first out”. With a young family to support, I almost had no choice but to (initially) buy a van and go out mobile. Despite the inevitable drawbacks, cold or wet weather being some of them! It allowed me to taste having my own business, and also meant I could ensure I did the best for my customers. Over the next 18 months I worked hard, and eventually found a Unit to rent in Sarratt, near Rickmansworth, with ramps and more importantly for me, warmth!

Having initially gained a BOSCH advanced apprenticeship graduation in 2016, I worked for a small independent garage to begin to learn my craft, and this gave me a wonderful grounding across a broad range of vehicles.

After spells at Aston Martin, Jaguar Land-Rover, and Ford, I have gained a wealth of experience of both prestige and also the everyday vehicles, including servicing, repairs, diagnosis, as well as almost all aspects of mechanical work.

Classic cars

With the help of my dad, I have also developed a love of classics, and currently have a Mk2 Escort project car, as well as several clients with classic vehicles including a 1968 Morris Minor, and of course, my dad’s Mini built for sprints and hill climbs. Welding and rust repairs are able to be undertaken, and whether it’s troubleshooting, or a simple change of the points, SOMA are happy to help.

Bikes

As a keen biker, I have recently developed this side of the business, and now have a client base which allows me to look after several motorcycles from servicing and repairs to M.O.T’s.

Being a qualified car and bike M.O.T tester means I can also look after your M.O.T requirements, and ensure any required repairs are carried out efficiently and as cost effectively as possible.

Servicing

With Ford Eco-boost 1.0 wet belt changes from £750 + VAT (including the oil strainer change), Transit wet belts from £850 + VAT, and a small service from just £99 + VAT, as well as 13 years in the business, SOMA prides itself, and doing a great job for a great price!
